Client

Dovetail Partners is a non-profit based in the Twin Cities who prioritize sustainability and specialize in solving complex problems; creating programs that enhance job creation and job quality of resource-based industries.

Requirements

In partnership with St. Louis County, Dovetail Partners enlisted the expertise of Old Saw Media to produce a captivating documentary video titled "Oshkigin: Spirit of Fire." The aim was to highlight the deep and interconnected relationship between the Ojibwe community and the land, with fire being a critical element in this bond.

Solution

In collaboration with Dovetail and a group of Indigenous partners, Old Saw Media outlined the important aspects of Cultural Burning to be highlighted in the documentary film "Oshkigin: Spirit of Fire" and identified the target audience. Despite the complexity of the topic, Old Saw Media successfully presented the information in an engaging and understandable manner, as the partners hoped to use the film to initiate conversations about Cultural Burning at events.

While Dovetail identified locations and individuals to be interviewed, Old Saw Media handled all logistics and production details, which included identifying key stock assets to tell the story. In addition, Old Saw Media handled all post-production aspects of the project while working closely with Dovetail's Indigenous partners.
